The strange scene at home

When you live with Lion King theater actors, you never know what you will see when you come home.

(In the previous Hollick case, titled “The Great Max Birth of 2010”, Mike was the one that showed up all crazy — at the hospital.)

We’re sharing our Orlando house with Nick Cordileone (he plays Timon) and his daughter Hero, and Rashada Dawan (Shenzi the Hyena) and her daughter Genesis. If you’ve ever seen The Lion King, you know how heavily makeup-ed many of the characters are. This is Nick as Timon on stage:

Because we are staying 30 miles from the downtown Orlando theater, Mike, Nick and Rashada carpool every night to work. They all try to be as quick as possible getting out of the theater for the 40 minute drive home. Last night, Nick gave an after-show backstage tour to some friends who came to the see The Lion King, and chose to not remove his makeup to cut down on Mike and Rashada’s wait time. Here is how I found him in the kitchen, at midnight:

Creepy, y’all. What’s weirder is, I’m chatting with him about my day with Hero and Genesis, who I’m babysitting (along with Max!) while they are all at work. So it’s like a casual, homey scene, with his daughter conked out on the loveseat, but I’m face-to-face with a swamp creature.

Rashada capped off the scene with some bizarre behavior while Nick dozed off. Some might have nightmares for days. Me, this is normal life. I repeat, normal life.

Your lives are so interesting, all the time, it seems! Your house is full of characters!

There is so much that is wrong, and right with this scenario! My kids had a good laugh from this post. Where do you guys head to next?
