What can we tell you about our little rapscallion? After one year of knowing her, we can say with confidence that she:

  1. Has zero teeth
  2. Gorges on watermelon (like her mama did while pregnant)
  3. Walks drunkenly around with much bravado (like her mama did while in college)
  4. Gives the best snuggles and hugs, but will swat at people who tell her “no!”
  5. Still nurses with gusto — and does acrobatics simultaneously, which is oh-so-fun for mama
  6. Can say mama, dada, big brother, milk, dog, ball
  7. Melts our hearts with each gummy grin
  8. Definitely is a mommy’s girl, through and through

I’ve been posting her weekly photos on my personal Facebook page, and many friends have asked, “How the heck do you have so many onesies for her? Isn’t that a pain to travel?”  And here’s my Super Secret:

She wears the SAME WHITE ONESIE and I PHOTOSHOP the week on it.

I was inspired by Sherry and John Petersik, bloggers over at Young House Love, who did the same project with their daughter Clara and even posted a video tutorial on their whole process. Because of my background in graphic design and my ease with Photoshop, this seemed like a fun project for me to do weekly with Eva to not only document her growth, but to archive all the places we’ve been — each backdrop was from a different stop on our tour around the continent. Whether it was a funky zebra rug at our friends’ Dag and Patrick’s beautiful home in Montclair, NJ, or my cousin Albert’s tartan childhood security blankie in Seattle, or a whimsical sea turtle print that my new friend Valerie lent me in Honolulu, Eva was able to make a piece of our loved ones’ lives part of her own history.

Occasionally I was able to get a little more creative with Eva’s clothes, to commemorate the time of the year or special holiday, like these:

So here’s Eva’s journey, starting with the most recent. Enjoy!
