This past week Ben Lipitz was on vacation, so I got to play Pumbaa and goof off with my good buddy Nick Cordileone (Timon) onstage and off. Nick took some cool shots of our day yesterday! Here are our costumes, ready for wear:
During our down time and between shows on a two-show day, we hit the table tennis. I tell Ang that I try to work out at the theater, and it’s true. You should see the amount of sweat and rage produced during these sessions.
Meals in between shows are usually eaten at the theater, especially on Sundays when there’s only a couple hours of free time between the 1 pm and 6:30 pm curtains. Removing makeup and then having it reapplied takes a while, so we stay in our paint until the next show. Mark Kaplan (Zazu), myself and Nick are prone to ordering food as well as bringing sandwiches from home.
Below, I’m trying to describe a decorated Lion King fondant cake that I saw downstairs, to Tony Freeman (standby for Timon, Zazu, Scar and Pumbaa) and Buyi Zama (Rafiki). Mmmmm, cake.

Hi Angelique! It does take a long time to put on Pumbaa’s makeup, but not as long as Scar. The more evil, the more intricate facepaint!
