Houston > Memphis > St. Louis: it’s like going from BBQ to BBQ to well, more BBQ. Are you surprised that we put our travel in terms we’re familiar with?
After a hot five weeks, it was time to bid adieu to Houston and make our way to St. Louis, with an overnight pit stop in Memphis. I was without Ang and Max, who were out in beautiful eastern Pennsylvania visiting my Dad, stepmom Jan and brother George, so Turkey was my in-car companion on this road excursion. I did caravan with Nick Cordileone (Timon) and his family, as well as Mark Kaplan (Zazu) with his dog Stomper, and Rob Parks (ensemble singer) with his dog Diamond. It was quite a 14-hour procession!
We arrived in St. Louis in the late afternoon, and I’m currently fried. We had some issues with our apartment (we are living with the Cordileones again), and you will read about it soon enough.
Amy (Nick’s wife) took some very cool photos of our cavalcade outside of a Memphis McDonald’s with her iPhone. We had breakfast here before we hit the road, and it was actually good — an oatmeal and coffee.
